Born from the need to homologate Ferrari's Formula 2 programme, the Dino represents one of the finest collaborations between FIAT and the Maranello manufacturer.
The result: a haute couture engine in a sublime GT.
This example is part of the second series which benefited from increased power compared to the first generation.
A Ferrari engine of 180 bhp fed by three Weber dual-choke carburettors in the spirit of motorsport competition.
Independent rear suspension, ZF 5-speed gearbox with reversed ratios, disc brakes for maximum exploitation.
On the design side, you'll find the sleek and taut lines typical of Italian cars of the era: the Gran Turismo.
Only 2398 examples of the 2400 coupe version! Suffice to say it's quite difficult to find one in near-original condition.
This one has been completely restored: body-off for the bodywork, full strip-down and rebuild for the mechanical components and refurbishment of the interior trim.
The independent inspection carried out by a specialist firm confirmed the excellent condition of the bodywork, the absence of corrosion on the chassis and the absence of major structural repairs. Undersides and wheel arches are also free from oxidation. Everything conforms to original specification.
The paintwork is in fine condition. The period 14-inch Cromodora aluminium alloy wheels are in excellent state.
The chrome is brilliant.
On the mechanical side, it appears the car has undergone significant restoration work on the suspension and running gear.
It is equipped with an engine block conforming to original specification. The inspection revealed a strong probability that it is Matching.
Start-up confirmed the absence of smoke and suspicious noises.
It is maintained at a specialist garage for classic vehicles which has just completed replacement of the clutch mechanism. The exhaust silencer has also just been changed.
Oil changes and servicing are up to date.
Finally, the black leather interior offers a beautiful contrast with the burgundy exterior colour.
The seats and door panels are in excellent condition as they were restored previously.
The headlining as well.
The dashboard presents no major defects.
The instrumentation is fully functional.
A beautiful combination for an iconic model of the 70s. A GT with sublime lines that combines comfort and performance.
