This elegant 2+2 coupé brought together Italian design, sporting engineering and a touch of Ferrari magic to form a truly singular automotive composition. Designed by Bertone, driven by a V6 engine developed by Ferrari and built at a time when style, sound and driving pleasure were still inseparable, the Fiat Dino 2400 Coupé embodies that famous raffinatezza — that Italian finesse that makes great classics so desirable even today. The Dino was introduced in 1966 to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Fiat founder Giovanni Agnelli and succeeded the Fiat 2300 Coupé. It was offered in two body variants: a stylish coupé designed by Bertone and a spider signed by Pininfarina. The Dino’s particular place in Fiat’s history owes primarily to its exceptional powertrain. For the first and only time, an engine developed and built by Ferrari was fitted in a series Fiat. This V6 with a strong character was used in a related form in the Ferrari Dino 246, later in the Lancia Stratos — a technical lineage that one does not merely read about, but one that one hears, feels and experiences. In the Fiat Dino 2400 Coupé, this lively six-cylinder was paired with high-quality sporting components: a 5-speed ZF transmission, a remarkably tuned chassis, four-wheel disc brakes and a self-locking differential. The result was a car that blended comfort and sportiness in wonderfully Italian fashion. The interior perfectly reflects the spirit of the early 1970s: luxurious, distinctive and dressed in a bold chromatic universe that today again attracts with its incomparable charm. The Dino is therefore not only a sporty coupé, but also an elegant testament to its era — a car meant for those who appreciate both technique and taste. Despite its qualities, respectable performance and undeniable sporting talent, the Fiat Dino 2400 Coupé remained rare. Only 2, 398 examples were produced. For Fiat, this volume was evidently insufficient, and production ended in 1972 without a direct successor being introduced. It is all the more fascinating today to note that this exceptional Fiat joined the exclusive circle of cars capable of reaching 200 km/ h as early as 1970. It appears to have been first registered in Sweden; based on our current assessment, we estimate that it had only about four previous owners. When Scuderia Sportiva Colonia discovered the car in Sweden in 2015, it was complete but clearly marked by the passage of time. The bodywork was somewhat “crispy”, the car had been repainted in red at some point, and the interior was in a sadly degraded state. The technical condition, however, was very encouraging: the engine and the gearbox were in remarkably good shape. It was therefore decided to bring this rare Dino, with care and high standards, back to its original appearance. The bodywork was completely rebuilt and repainted in its original delivery colour, Nocciola — a warm and elegant shade that superbly emphasises the Bertone lines. The interior was faithfully rebuilt to the original specifications. With the support of the Italian classic upholstery specialist Maeli, an exact recreation of the original corduroy trim was achieved, accompanied by the green carpet in compliance. This rare and distinguished combination of original colours could thus be recreated — one of the details that makes this Dino particularly appealing today. A wooden steering wheel with a Dino emblem was ordered from Nardi, adding another classic touch to the interior. The engine and gearbox were resealed, the electrical system restored, the suspension and steering refurbished, the brake calipers overhauled, while new discs, brake pads and a new exhaust were installed. Conclusion This Fiat Dino 2400 Coupé Bertone is an exceptional representative of a brief but brilliant chapter in Italian automotive history.
