The Appeal
The modern TF was a thorough reworking of the F, including updated cosmetics and sharper suspension set up. To celebrate MG returned a classic name from the 1950s. While the TF rebooted the MG brand and led to its current resurgence, it was also the last of an era.
This very smart, low mileage 2005 TF 135 is one of the last built by MG Rover. Painted in well preserved Starlight Silver with matching hard top, it seems to suffer few if any of the usual structural foibles associated with these cars. Inside there is a well-kept leather and Alcantara interior in black and grey that shows few indications of use.
The car has amassed less than 36,000 miles in the hands of its four keepers. Judging by the thick maintenance file they have clearly cherished it, ensuring it is regularly serviced despite the sparing use. Notable recent attention includes a service in 2024 at 33,294 miles, when the coolant and front radiator were replaced, plus a gearbox service in September 2025. The cambelt was replaced earlier that year. In 2021 the car received new discs and pads all round and in 2023 the front suspension was overhauled. The current MOT runs to September 2026 with no advisories.
The modern TF is one of those British roadsters with the authenticity and aura of a classic MG, but much more usable than a B or A. This is one of the nicest we’ve seen in a long while.
