The Appeal

The 'Big Healey' and the enthusiast has enjoyed a passionate love affair since the distinctive little roadsters arrived on the market with the BN1 in 1953. The development of these cars was an impressive affair, and by the arrival of the BJ8 in 1964, it had become a thoroughly refined machine, with 150hp on tap, SU carbs and power-assisted brakes as standard.

The BJ8 Phase II improved ground clearance, wind-up windows, a walnut dashboard and overdrive. As the last of the line before production ceased in 1967, they're amongst the most desirable of these handsome convertibles.

This particular example was sourced from the Beverly Hills Car Club in California in 2014, bringing with it the advantages of a dry-climate life. Since arriving in the UK, it has been subjected to a thorough restoration covering bodywork, mechanicals and interior, the details of which are outlined below.
