Here we have my 1968 Ford LTD Galaxie XL 4 door sedan for sale.
The LTD has the 6. 4 litre V8 390 FE big block engine coupled up to a three speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic gearbox. It also has the “hide away headlights” which were only specific to the ‘68 which all operate and work fine. The previous owner carried out a front brake disc and calliper conversion, and I still have the original front brake drums which will be thrown in with the sale. The previous owner also fitted a set of black powder coated American racing wheels, which couple with the hideaway headlights really give the LTD an aggressive muscle car look.
Since owning the LTD I’ve had it serviced regularly, had a new starter motor and gearbox flexplate (flywheel) fitted. Also fitted were new stiffened shock absorbers all round.
I’ve owned the LTD for 4 years and I’m only selling it due to a recent house move and a loss of storage. I believe I’m the 4th owner since the cars arrival to the UK in 2007. The car has never let me down and really draws attention because of the looks and mainly the sound of the 390 big block rumbling.
There’s only a couple of minor bad points. The paint isn’t great as I think it had a very “American” respray before it left the states, so some of the paint and lacquer is starting to blister and peel. But the metal underneath is all solid and there’s no rot underneath at all! And there’s a slight exhaust blow from the right hand exhaust manifold gasket when the vehicle is warm. But gaskets are easily obtained online. The dash has a couple of heat cracks and the head lining inside has a few tears. Other than that the interior is immaculate.
I’ve been honest in its description so please don’t expect it to be a show winner. I’m more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the car, and strongly recommend coming to look at the car before bidding. But please don’t come and expect me to give it away as you’ll be wasting both of our time. My number is the details below if you have any questions about the car I’m more than happy to answer them. Ask for John.
The car is advertised elsewhere so hold the right to withdraw it at any time.
