Description
RetroMarques Ltd is pleased to offer for sale on behalf of the owner: ‘EYR 48J’, 1971 MGB Roadster in fast-road/ rally spec and Heritage bodyshell
An opportunity to acquire a Heritage shelled MGB which has been built-up for long-distance touring and regularity rallying. ‘EYR’ has seen significant investment and been prepared by a very experienced and successful driver/ navigator team to be event-ready. Peter Burgess built Stage 2 engine, many mechanical upgrades, Brantz tripmeter, power ports and decent seating and harnesses are just some of the upgrades already in place and essentially ALL mechanical items have been either replaced or rebuilt. In short, if you seek an affordable entry to the regularity world or are planning some long-distance touring, then this is a serious proposition.

‘EYR’ was originally an MGB GT and then converted to roadster spec utilising a new Heritage shell (hence chassis ID change). This took place in 1998 and the car was then not fully finished until the following owner began a comprehensive rebuild programme during the period 2013-15, effectively starting again with a full mechanical strip to the shell and then building back up to his own spec. The result is that nothing has had more use or wear than circa 10k miles since!
As the figures suggest, 'EYR' is very strong on the road and yet quite happy at lower speeds and driving gently – not at all ‘cammy’! Overall the car feels really ‘tight’ and testament to the fact that it has had barely 10k miles since the rebuild and is really well sorted electrically, hydraulically and mechanically. The cockpit is both comfortable yet functional given the later, leather seats and rally harnesses and rally setup switches, powerpoints and Brantz trip.
A ‘drive-away’ touring/ rally prepped MGB and very sensibly priced given the Heritage shell and performance/ rally improvements incorporated; not a cheap project to undertake or replicate!
