Description

NOW REDUCED FOR A QUICK SALE

A rare and exciting opportunity to purchase a 1952 AC 2 litre saloon that has been under the same ownership for over 40 years!

We are assisting our customer with the sale of this vehicle as he requires help in advertising the vehicle to a worldwide audience

The car was originally purchased in January 1977 as a restoration project. It was driven from Oxfordshire back to Yorkshire without any issues. It was then driven for approximately six months before being placed in dry storage, ready for restoration.

AC collectors will already be aware of the vehicle specification. However we can confirm the following information along with works completed by the owner:

1952 AC 2 Litre Saloon
2 door coach built with steel chassis
Ash framework
Aluminium body
Engine Capacity 1991cc - 76BHP – (original)
Current mileage showing as 92711
Only 4 previous owners
Been on the road and in use since 2013

The main areas requiring restoration were:-

The boot floor and sides with rotted and delaminating plywood floor and sides and some rotted ash framework.
Rear wheel arches with badly rusted inner arches and rotted framework
Bulkhead where the plywood had rotted and delaminated
Inside the car needing a new rear parcel shelf and some wooden trim round front and rear windscreens, a new steering wheel, new head lining and carpeting and repairs and renovation of the seats
Instruments were generally OK but need cleaning
Engine and transmission were also generally OK although the cylinder head needed skimming. A new clutch plate was fitted and torsion damper to the crank shaft and new timing chain. Other parts replaced were new pistons (new valves and springs had been fitted previously) engine mountings and the exhaust parts mainly in stainless steel
Wheels had new rubber parts fitted to the brake cylinders and new tyres
Body was sound as it is aluminium but new headlights were fitted
Chassis was also sound mainly because it is so substantial but needed a little welding in the boot area.

During restoration all woodwork repairs were done with ash for the framework and marine grade plywood. The car was then re-sprayed, the chassis and wheel arches treated with underseal and all chrome parts removed for re-chroming.

The car is sold with:

2 owners handbooks
Numerous articles on the model from old magazines
Original Registration Document and 2 old MOT Certificates
All receipts for work done during current period of ownership
AC Owners Club magazines
Some spares and removed parts
A comprehensive log of all work done on car during my ownership including before and after photos.
