I built this car with the view to competing in hill climbing in the road modified class but since have had a small person arrive which doesn't allow for me to go racing.
I have done a few track days with the car where it performed extremely well. It really is a little rocket.
The car has been featured on the cover of April 2016 Mini Magazine and has only been used a handful of times since then.
The car was purchased from the nephews of an old lady in Liverpool who had been left a house in the will. Upon opening the garage they discovered the mini and I ended up getting a call. After going to see it I noticed that it was an early mk3 shell but it had a 1964 plate and various other bits. When I asked they said that they seemed to remember that the car was damaged beyong repair in a crash in the early 70s and as she loved it so much she had it reshelled.
After getting the car myself I stripped it down to a bare shell and had it media blasted, then it was treated to 2 new wings, 2 new A-panels, 2 new door skins and a few repairs to the boot floor. Its had all new running gear including rear back plates, powder coated subframes, billet rear hubs, superfins, 4 pot minisport calipers, braided fuel lines which run unsides the car, braided PTFE fuel lines (no smell), fibre glass bonnet and bootlid, colour coded and verfied safety devices roll cage... etc etc... the list goes on. After the long rebuild I dropped in my 1380 MED engine which had been rebuilt with an SW10 camshaft and all new bearings etc. The engine pulls like a train and has been rolling roaded at nearly 120bhp.
The engine runs a weber 45, megajolt mappable ignition, hi lift rockers, an oil baffle tray, additional engine steadies, a stage 3 maniflow race manifold and centre exit exhaust.
The gearbox is fully straight cut and has straight cut drop gears so its nice and noisey. A lot of people hear the gearbox before they see the car.
The wheels are alloy versions of the S steel wheel and have Yokohama A008s.
This is a road legal race car and likes to be driven hard like I intended.
I will include a trailer for transporting the mini as well which is a home made flat bed which I use for taking it on track days.
The car is currently on an agreed value insurance policy with Lancaster Insurance for £12000.
Any questions please get in touch. I'm happy to take people out in it but I don't want any test pilots and if you are going to drive it I'll need to see insurance. The seat is quite narrow as well so be prepared to squeeze into it!
