Ford Sierra / Merkur XR4TI 1985 3 door 2. 3 I4 Turbo (175 bhp) 5 speed manual. LHD American import. MOT'd & UK registered on a "B" plate. Black with grey cloth interior, usual extras including PAS, elec windows, mirrors, tilt/ slide sunroof etc. Has AC but this is not charged although the full system is present. Showing 7400 miles which is believed to be genuine although I have no proof of this (the car is amazingly original & shows very little wear/ tear hence the belief that the mileage could well be genuine). Car was stood for a long time prior to being imported so has been through a thorough recomissioning / restoration process. The car has had :
New Exide battery
New front brake discs & pads
New rear wheel cylinders
New brake master cylinder
New brake flexi hoses
Rebuilt PAS pump
New water pump
New thermostat
New cambelt & tensioners
New cam cover gasket
Oil & filter change
New accessory drive belts
New fuel pressure regulator
New air & fuel filters
New iridium spark plugs
All fluids changed
New aluminium radiator
New heater matrix
Replacement fuel tank & pump assembly
Replacement (uncracked) dashboard which is super rare on these - I had it imported specially!
Fabric made to measure "dash protector"
Car has been fully repainted due to sun damage, photos available prior to paint to back this up (not rust!).
New front windscreen
New wiper blades
Upgraded & refurbished rare 7Jx16" ET34 Escort Cosworth style Ronal (Ford) wheels fitted with quality 205 tyres front & 225 tyres rear. Original 14" "pepperpot" wheels with XR4TI centre caps are also supplied.
Kenwood CD/ USB/ Bluetooth audio with replacement quality speakers all round. Original stereo included.
Lots of paperwork, manuals, original sales documentation & copies of the american paperwork. Two original "Merkur" torch keys present, all locks match. Original parcel shelf which is sun faded but in good condition.
Some spares such as oil filters, gasket kit, ignition overhaul set & RHD NOS European Sierra headlamps.
Car is in really good shape, it's not immaculate (some of the trim is a bit sun bleached / faded) but a really good basis to either use as is or spend a bit more time improving it to show standard.
A really honest & really quite rare piece of Ford history which is even rarer in the UK, have a look at Youtube for Andy Rouse as he raced one before the Cosworth was released. I did this one for myself as I have always been intruiged by the TI having owned regular 2. 8 XR4is before. These are way more tuneable & just cooler being turbocharged (Exhaust, intercooler, more boost, ECU upgrade, hybrid turbo etc.... sky is the limit - just google it!). A change in plans means that this one needs to be moved on so I can focus on another car which I'm building. V5 is present & in my name with me as the first UK keeper.
