The bad
Hole in the offside wing near mudflap. Could be patched as the rest of the wing is solid
Lacquer peel on the front grille, some paint flaking on the front and rear bumpers
Offside rear door window trim needs looking at, it doesn't sit right
Rear view mirror lens has gone - not leaking into car though and usable as a normal mirror
Headlining has been pinned up effectively with upholstery pins
Drivers' seat bolster worn but not falling to bits
Air conditioning is reluctant
The good
All the warning lights cycle off as they should on startup
V8 engine runs beautifully, starts readily and doesn't overheat, pulls well and kicks down when needed
Fluids run clean and don't leak, no creaks or knocks on driving, exhausts are sound
Alloys are in decent order and wearing matching Pirelli Cinturato P7s with lots of tread
Just replaced the serpentine belt tensioner with a better metal one as the plastic one failed on the driveway
Plenty of paperwork and history with the car with original manuals and book pack
Cheaper tax bracket - £330 per year / £28 monthly and cheap to insure
Interior is a pleasant, clean place - not smoked in, smells like a classic
Recent high quality Bosch battery
Nice XJ8 with a few issues that could be improved upon on a rolling basis or just enjoy the car as is. I picked it up and drove over 100 miles home with no issues and the car had been standing some time. The car presents well and draws a surprising number of positive comments - everybody loves an old Jag!
