For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover® Series 3 in Limestone (1971).
Petrol 2286cc. MOT until 23rd July 2021 without advisories, but exempt anyway. Tax Exempt. Galvanised Chassis. Parabolic Springs. Station Wagon Configuration. La Salle Headliner. SU Carb Upgrade. Safari Roof with Alpine Lights.
We are delighted to present for sale this high-specification, handsome Series 3 Land Rover®, in popular Station Wagon configuration. This vehicle was owned locally to us, and we were delighted to be able to purchase it from the current owner whose father conducted the rebuild in times past. It was therefore was well loved and long-term owned by the family by over 20 years and selling it to us was a careful decision…. probably due to the number of toys (other vehicles!) that he owned. The 30 minute drive in to our premises was probably the most pleasant test drive we have ever conducted and it drove perfectly.
Externally, as can be seen from the photographs, this early Series 3 is presented in very good condition all round – the paintwork is of a spray-type finish and it enjoys the trappings one associates with a Station Wagon type vehicle – Safari Roof with Alpine Lights, glass side windows, headliner, etc etc. A full matching set of colour coordinated steel wheels is fitted which include the spare mounted on the rear door. These recent wheels are fitted with road-biased rubber which give great road holding and a good ride quality. Defender-type wing mirrors are fitted for better visibility and the vehicle enjoys the fitment of vintage plates and a new galvanised front bumper. Rear Grab handles are also fitted.
The interior houses three deluxe seats to the front, with deluxe matting, tunnel cover and door cards. The rear houses the correct tip up type station wagon seats that one rarely finds in a good condition such as this. A high-quality and expensive La Salle headlining is fitted to give that little bit of added comfort and luxury, and it is finished off with a rear load mat and rear door card on the back door. Rear Belts can be added at a small additional cost if so required.
Due to the nature of this vehicle being rebuilt onto a Galvanised Chassis, coupled with the fact it has enjoyed one family ownership for many years, it drives far better than many one may care to try – the parabolic springs, coupled with a sensible tyre profile, give a far smoother ride. The uprated SU Carburettor allows the vehicle to tick over almost silently at very low revs, whilst having a very swift turn of speed when you do want to press on! The exhaust tone is infectious and it really is a joy to drive.
In summary, if you are looking for a rebuilt, high-specification Series 3 Station Wagon type set-up that has been well cared for and loved and that can carry all the family in relative comfort, then this vehicle would be ideal to own for another 20+ years.
