Descrição
HERE is a beautiful 1958 Hillman Minx Series III in perhaps the best colour combination of Antelope and Fathom Grey. She is believed to be the oldest known surviving Series III having being registered on October 3, 1958, the month after production of this model had begun. She still carries her original registration number too.
Her mileage of 42, 000 is understood to be correct and, according to previous owners, she has never been restored. That is to say that she is believed to be an un-molested 1950s vehicle which in itself is a rarity. There are no obvious signs of welding repairs underneath. Certainly the bulk of her paint could well be the factory original. There are traces of factory primer around the headlights and the driver's door has seen some touch-ups over the years. Old fashioned Halford's style I would say. It is almost certain that all her panels are the originals. Classic cars can only be original once. So let's forget about the oft-used description where owners proudly declare that their classic is very original; totally restored! No. Originality means left alone like this 62-year-old girl. She has a current MoT (not required) with no advisories until August 2021.
Interior-wise, she is excellent with no damage, or even any sun fading, to the seats. Her rubber mats are very probably the factory originals. She motors well with her 1500cc engine, although there may be a slight blow towards the rear of the exhaust which appears to wear off once you are in motion.
Given that we find ourselves in a time where so many classic car owners work on the assumption that everything must be perfect, no matter how many thousands of pounds it may cost to achieve it, I find it heart warming to come across this un-molested Minx.
She is 62-years-old and is bound to be showing signs of wear and tear. However I have described her exactly as I perceive her to be. Please do not make the mistake of comparing the condition of an antique motor car such as this with a one-year-old vehicle. I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote.
