1965 Triumph TR6 Trophy 650cc Twin registered in 1966 with ’66 colours of Blue & White. This bike has been owned for about 10 years by a friend who sadly died recently and sold on behalf of the widow. At purchase the bike had been beautifully restored cosmetically and mechanically by the previous owner. It has been used regularly since then and is perhaps not quite so pristine but still a very handsome machine. I have witnessed it in use on many VMCC runs including an End-End in 2013 and a trip to Montlerey in France in May 2019. Never missed a beat.
The bike had about 12k on the odometer when restored and is now showing 24258. Engine and frame number match – DU23686 and it appears to be very original (but make your own judgement as I am not a Triumph expert). The front brake plate is the later TLS type but the original single cam brake plate will come with it. There is a wealth of paperwork to come with it as well which can be inspected when the bike is viewed.
It has Boyer ignition running a 12v system with recent AGM battery which was found fully charged even though the bike has been standing since October 2019. The bike is now classed as historic so is Tax free and MoT exempt but the MoT history up to 22k miles can be viewed on the DVLA website – Regn Number is JBU642D.
The bike is well sorted and can be used immediately though two things were noted. The rear tyre is an Avon SM with well legal tread but wearing square and if it was mine I would replace it sooner rather than later. Also chrome is peeling from the top of offside silencer. There are no holes and I’s perfectly sound and not immediately obvious until you know its there. This silencer was fitted at restoration. The near side silencer is fine as it was replaced in 2014 due to a fractured bracket on the original. Pictures of both are provided .
Overall a really nice example of a sought after machine. The bike is located in Neston, Wiltshire
