Description

Featured on the front cover of MG enthusiast Magazine this is probably one of the best example of a MG V8 conversions about. The car is registered as an historic vehicle at therefor is tax exempt.

Converted in the late 90's. The car has undergone a full ground up restoration including bare metal respray, reupholstering, reconditioned engine, diff, brakes, gearbox etc with many new parts. The car has covered just 13, 500 miles since the completion and has until recently been part of a large car collection covering barely a thousand miles per year whilst being kept in tip top condition. MOT from 29th/ 6/ 22. The car is tax exempt and registered as an historic vehicle.

The MG enthusiast magazine documents some of the restoration with photos and more detailed explanation of the build. The build was carried out by a private individual with help from an mg V8 specialist engineering company Dave Vale's of Farnborough Kent. The build was meticulous in both detail and safety. Additional torsion bars and box sections were added to help with the extra power of a the V8, a roll over bar for safety (removable) and discs brakes added all round to help with stopping power. Further improvements include a light-weight bonnet, and the suspension has been upgraded with new telescopic shock absorbers all round.

The reconditioned engine was fitted with US pistons to match its increased capacity and Piper cams.

The attention to detail can be demonstrated in many areas, for example the petrol tank was moved a couple of inches to make way for a twin exhaust pipe rarely seen on a vehicle such as this but adding symmetry, improving the look, performance and above all making it sound sublime.

Whilst the restoration was carried out some time ago the car remains in excellent condition. There is absolutely no rust or pitting in the knightfire red paint work. The chrome work has only the slightest signs of patination and the black interior is one of the best i've seen. Whilst not mint it can be described as a very very clean example including the engine bay.

I have had the car approx. 2 years. Prior to purchasing the vehicle the car was fitted with a new ignition system, and I then had a new brake master cylinder fitted and the brakes bled. Prior to placing this advertisement and since the MOT, I have had the cars mechanics fully inspected and some associate work carried out by Dave Gardner of Autorevive london an mg specialist to ensure the mechanics are as good as the body. He has fitted a new clutch, replaced some warn engine mounts and an exhaust mount. He assures me that the car is very mechanically sound and drives well

The Engine is a typical rover V8 with 5 speed SDI gearbox. The engine was completely rebuilt. The metallic paint work in my opinion looks almost burgundy rather than the cherry red i think the pictures show.
