Beschreibung

This is an extremely rare matching numbers Q code 1972 Mustang Mach 1 with a 351 Cleveland 4V engine with functional Ram Air Cobrajet. The Ram Air Cobrajet is a rarer option and works by forcing cold air into the engine at high revs, giving the car extra boost. In 1972 the 351 Cleveland 4V engine was the highest spec Mach 1 engine available – better than the 351 Cleveland 2V and better than the two options of the 351 Windsor engine.

My car also comes with factory four speed Hurst manual gearbox and 3. 50 Traction-Lok rear differential.

The car has covered a genuine and documented 47k miles from new and is in exceptional condition throughout. I don't want to use the word immaculate on a 49 year old car but this car is as good as you will ever find. It's stunning. Any inspection welcome.

Please see the link to the video walk around and start up of the car at the end.

A Marti report comes with the car, which shows the all important vehicle ID number (Vin no) as well as details of the build and factory options.

The car has been featured in two magazines, the last of which was a 10 page front cover piece in RetroFord in October 2020. See the links to the articles at the end.

The car was bought new by a Laura M De Lucca on 28 June 1972 for $3, 626. 00 from LEE Ford dealership in the state of New York. A copy of the original bill of sale comes with the car and shows that $1, 080. 82 was spent on optional upgrades, which includes:

·  351 V8 4V Cleveland Engine with Cobrajet
·  Four speed Hurst manual transmission
·  Traction-lok differential
·  Power steering
·  Power front disk brakes
·  Mach 1 sports interior
·  Triple sports dial console
·  Sports deck rear seats (foldable)
·  Magnum 500 chrome wheels

Over the next 39 years the car covered just 33, 632 miles. This is verified by an original ‘Title’ from 2011 held by a Mr Daniel & Mrs Karen Love from the State of Maryland, who were the last owners of the car in the US. During the same year, a Mr Robert Wassell from the UK then bought the car for $32, 000 from Mr & Mrs Love - full details of the transaction comes with the car. Mr Wessell then employed Golden Chariots International to begin the process of importing the vehicle into the UK.

In August 2011, a HM Customs & Excise document shows the vehicle having covered approx 34, 000 miles when it arrived in the UK. A comprehensive set of documents showing every step of the import process comes with the car.

After undergoing the statutory vehicle customs and registration process in the UK, the vehicle was then first MOT’d on 14 April 2012. Every MOT thereafter comes with the vehicle to validate the current mileage of 47, 000. The car is currently MOT’d to 23 Feb 2022 (although the car is MOT exempt).

Whilst in Mr Wessells possession, he spent a small fortune having the car upgraded - all invoices for this come with the car. Below is a list of the works he had carried out:

·  New Centreforce clutch
·  New KYB sports Gasadjust shocks all round
·  New performance 5 leaf rear springs with new U bolts, shackles & bushes
·  New uprated rear sway bar
·  New MSD 6AL electronic ignition with Rev limiter, new MSD billet distributor, new MSD tach adapter, new high power MSD coil, new MSD heavy duty leads
·  New spark plugs
·  New K & N air filter
·  New Tuff Stuff one wire alternator
·  New power steering pump and hoses
·  All new cooling hoses
·  New rear drum brake pads and new half shaft bearings
·  New master cylinder and brake booster
·  New rear screen seals and trim panel
·  New rear screen louvre

In 2013, Mr Wassell then sold the car to Mr Brian Preston, a Mustang enthusiast who also owned a 1967 Mustang Fastback. Mr Preston then kept the Mach 1 up until 2020, maintaining the car fastidiously himself. Mr Preston then sold the car to a Mr Thomas Howard, who kept it for a short while until September 2020, before selling it onto to myself.

I have spent £11, 280. 80 over the last nine months upgrading the car further (all invoices to back this up comes with the car). Below is a list of the upgrades I had done:

·  New FST 750 carb with vacuum secondary and electric choke
·  New spark plugs
·  Engine taken out and inspected by renowned William Bros Racing. They confirmed that the engine has been previously rebuilt with new Harland Sharp roller rockers, upgraded cam, and new lifters and pushrods
·  Complete new fabricated stainless steel exhaust system with ceramic Sanderson Shorty Headers followed by straight through 2. 5" pipes leading to 24” Cherry Bomb glass pack back boxes. Sounds unbelievable - please see the video walk around link at the end.
·  New heater core fitted which involved removal of the dash (heater now works perfectly)
·  Gearbox completely refurbished with new seals
·  Rear drum brakes reconditioned with new seals and adjustment
·  New rear shackle kit
·  New engine mounts
·  Engine taken out and repainted and centre of hood painted in black
·  New subtly positioned reversing camera and digital speedometer
·  Fully detailed, including clay, polish and ceramic coating

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a genuine 47k mileage Mach 1 with a Q code 351 Cleveland 4V engine, functional Ram Air Cobrajet and four speed manual. The car looks, drives and sounds incredible. It wants for nothing and comes with a huge chronologically filed history folder and magazine features. It even has the original owners manual and its sleeve - see a pic of this above

Find another 351 4V Cleveland Mach 1 with functional Ram Air, 4 speed manual, fully documented history - and in this condition, with all of these upgrades and only 47k verified miles from new. The car drives faultlessly. It’s powerful, smooth and grips the road really well with the uprated suspension.

I am selling the car as I am now after a Porsche 356 coupe.

The car is located in Northampton, and I have advertised it elsewhere for sale.
