Here we have an excellent 1983 Ford Escort XR3i in genuine and very well maintained condition. Featuring the classic sporty looks and the raspy 105BHP engine, the XR3i was a hot hatch hit with British motorists during the 80s. First registered in February 1983, this is one of the very first fuel-injected XR3is and features the favoured black front grill, eye-catching ‘cloverleaf’ alloy wheels and the large front and rear black spoilers.
We are always on the hunt for nice 80s Fords and for every 10 that we see only 1 or 2 of them are good enough for us to retail. This is one of the best early XR3is that we have seen to date. From looking at the paperwork and condition, it is clear that it has been stored well and impeccably maintained. Supplied with full MOT history, original stamped service book and many invoices for maintenance and servicing throughout its life. As a result the car presents to be very clean and tidy both cosmetically and mechanically. With a five-digit odometer, it was put back to zero when it reached 100, 000 miles in 2001 and all bills and paperwork support the mileage.
More recently, the car has benefitted many major works including a cambelt service, fuel tank replaced, fuel pump replaced, engine tune (2017-2018), new air filter, oil filter, oil change, cambelt tensioner change, full set valve stem seals fitted, new spark plugs, brakes stripped and master cylinder replaced (2013).
