MG TC 1947 Oily Rag car. matching numbers, believed to have under 45000 miles from new, complete, in good running order. Recently recommissioned, wheels respoked and new tyres. Paperwork, receipts etc. The TC is in more or less original condition.
[Please note: The photos of the TC on the field, with the roof down. Are of the car before it was recommissioned. In these pics you'll notice the wheels are showing corrosion. The wheels have since then been fully refurbished, as can be seen in the other pics.]

Owned by the same family since 1969. This TC was bought by my father in very much similar condition as it is now. The car has had various maintenance and some restoration work done over the years, but has spent most of it’s life in the garage, often for several years at a time, before being brought out started, driven around the garden and then put back in the garage.
In about 2009 the TC had some significant recommissioning work done. Some of the woodwork around the passenger side rear wheel arch and back panel was replaced, a new inner wheel arch was fitted, the interior trim was replaced, new carpet and new vinyl roof fitted including side screens.
The car then did a 300 mile round trip in one day, after which it went back in the garage and wasn’t used again until 2019, when it came into my possession and I had the TC recommissioned for the road.
The most recent recommissioning which was carried out by a classic car specialist in 2018, included a full mechanical and bodywork inspection, with all the necessary work completed to make sure the TC is safe to use on the road today. This included; rebuilding the Dynamo and having all five wheels respoked, powder coated and three new tyres fitted. One of the five wheel rims and it’s hub is different from the other four. It is thought not to be original to the car and it is my guess that my Father replaced either a damaged or missing spare wheel shortly after acquiring the TC. The headlights internals fitted are from a Rover and have H4 Halogen bulbs, making night driving much safer and the rebuilt dynamo has no problem supplying the power needed. I do have the original TC headlight internals, though I’m unsure how complete they are. Everything that has been done was with the intension of keeping the car as original as it can be.
To the best of mine and my fathers knowledge, the engine is completely original and has never been out of the car, the cylinder head has never been off. The push rod cover has been painted green at some point. This is probably simply because green engine paint was readily available and free at the time.
Viewing is by appointment only, in West Wales. The TC is in running order, registered and insured. Dependent on conditions a demonstration drive may be possible.
