Vehicle history:
The only coupé and at the same time the last Glöckler Porsche No. 7, with the 110 hp 1. 5-liter displacement four cam engine ("Fuhrmann engine") was built as a rally car for the 1954 Mille Miglia, but was not completed in time. The body was manufactured by the Ch. Weidenhausen company in Frankfurt a. M., Germany. The coupe competed in the Liège-Rome-Liège endurance race (5, 150 km) with the team Helm Glöckler and Max Nathan.
Before No. 7 was sold to the USA, the car served as a test vehicle in Zuffenhausen. During its time in the USA, the Glöckler Porsche made a name for itself, first in racing events and later in a fatal accident. A young actor had purchased the car, but one day the car and its owner disappeared without a trace. Weeks later, the actor and No. 7 were found in a deep ravine: The young man had lost his life in the crash, and the car was recovered in amazingly good condition.
At the end of the 1980s, Klaus Heffels, the well-known head of the Scuderia Lufthansa Classico, found the Glöckler coupé again at Rudi Klein's, a noble scrap dealer from California who was well-known in the sports car scene. In 1993, the unique specimen returned to Frankfurt.
After more than 50 years, the vehicle was restored from the ground up at the restoration store with the greatest professional skill. Recently, the engine was overhauled by a specialist, and a lot of money was invested to put the vehicle in perfect condition for immediate use.
