1959 Ford Consul Deluxe, stunning multi show winning car. Probably the best Mk2 Consul available.
36000 miles from new, only three owners, including me twice.
NEVER WELDED, zero rust. All original panels, totally original interior, Clear plastic seat covers fitted from new.
History.
Bought new by Mr Edward Lawson from Jennings of Morpeth, main Ford dealers, on 5th June 1959. When Mr Lawson bought the car he had a set of heavy duty clear plastic seat covers fitted at a cost of £7-13s-2d (I have receipt for the covers). He also ordered it with the upmarket Ford push button radio and arial, which still plays perfectly.
During the summer of 1965, after a family disagreement, the car was parked in their garage and not to be used again. There it stayed till 1989 when it became available for sale.
It was still in fantastic original condition, still on its original Firestone F7 tyres, still had the Jan 66 tax disc in the window and with only 19000 miles on it. The plastic seat covers were still in place keeping the seats as new.
The car was recommissioned for use, and won lots of car shows over the following years.
I sold the car in 1995, now with 28500 miles on it, and regretted it for the next 26 years, then in 2019 I got the opportunity to buy it back from the person I’d sold it to.
Now showing 35000 miles, and still in very good condition, but needed love and attention to get it back to its former glory.
The original cellulose paint was faded and scratched in places and generally looked tired. So I decided on a full bare shell paint in the original colours of Kenilworth Blue with a Black roof. The car was stripped of everything apart from the original headlining and original vinyl dash, which were mint condition and would never go back the same if removed.
All panels including the underside floor were stripped to bare metal, engine bay was soda blasted to remove all traces of the cellulose paint.
Apart from a few small dings, NO rust, NO repairs were found anywhere, this car has never been welded anywhere, all metalwork is the original metal it left the factory with.
Excellent chrome, and still has its original Bluemels number plates fitted from new.
Underside, all the braking system has been refurbished, with new shoes, wheel cylinders, pipes etc. All new spring and suspension bushes. Everything else was cleaned, polished or painted.
Engine bay is beautiful, fitting of a show car, everything cleaned, polished or painted to original spec. A full stainless steel exhaust system is fitted.
Interior is all original and excellent. headlining, carpets, door cards, dash top and two tone blue leather seats, which have been protected all its life because of the clear plastic fitted seat covers. I wouldn’t think you’d find a better original interior in any mk2.
Selling because of health problems, I have a Zodiac which is also in excellent condition and I’m not able to manage both cars.

I have the original buff log book showing use till 1965 and lots of MOTs from 1989 onwards.
This Consul is probably the best available anywhere, and the price reflects the condition.
