Description
Supplied by the Austin motor company in 1959 with the optional passenger seat and heater to Bluebird Caravans of Dorset who working from that bare chassis produced their Highwayman model. It has two single berths and it the past accommodated two small children above the front seat and again above in a storage overcab area.. The brakes have been uprated with a servo, I have fitted a new waterpump, added a solenoid, a new starter motor, new fuel pump, track rod ends, reversing camera, battery and an additional engine cooling fan as advised by a long term owner. The van known as Fiona benefits from a great deal of originality from the sink, cooker, full length roof window and detailed interior lights. I have the original owner warranty, cooker manual, parts list, workshop manuals and details of all the previous nine owners.
In the past it has towed a barrel organ and a Berkley three wheeler.
The kitchen areas has an electric pumped supply to the sink, plenty of cupboard space, portaloo, fold up table and opening windows. I am very fond of Fiona but have run out of room my only compensation being that I will replace her with a smaller Austin convertible like a chummy. Sleeping accommodation is formed by lowering the table providing a single berth easily allowing my 6ft to stretch out. A second single berth is across the van just before the cab area.
Fiona attracts attention everywhere, I know many people describe their vehicle for sale as being rare. This one is, as so many were later converted as coffee/ food outlets ruining them and to be honest they were an expensive vehicle to buy at the time.
I have a box with some spares and full heavyweight fitted cover with a velcro flap door to give access to the living area if needed.
Fiona is on the Isle of Wight but I can collect you from the ferry terminals here so no need to bring a car.
