We are very pleased to offer a Classic Mini Icon. The legendary 1969 Austin Mini Cooper S MK2 finished in Tartan red with a contrasting black roof. Owning a Mini Cooper S is the pinnacle of classic Mini ownership which is further enhanced with an amazing driving experience. The MK2 "S" is super rare amongst its peers as they were only produced for 18 months. This matching numbers example benefits from being restored to a very high standard in the last ten years and is accompanied with a large history folder which dates back to the eighties, previous MOT certs, heritage certificate and a photographic folder of the works completed which was thorough and comprehensive. The significant history folder points to the mileage of just 48000 to be genuine. It still however retains its drivers car appeal and should be used, driven and enjoyed as I am sure it will make you smile as much as it does me.
On the road is where the experience starts. Driving a Mini Cooper S is a real thrill and one that makes you feel very special. This S is no exception. the tuned 1275 engine is very responsive and offers bags of power and acceleration when required, the gearbox is precise and smooth and the original Hydrolastic suspension offers a smooth ride with accurate handling. We have fully tuned this S and also fitted an Aldon electronic ignition which has added a layer of reliability. It also has a very rare Downton engineering cylinder head which is a wonderful and rare bonus. It feels ready to be driven all day and thanks a very sexy set of brand new ten inch Rose Petal wheels with four Yokohama tyres and the original steering wheel the full pure Cooper S experience is on offer.
The interior is beautifully presented with restored black vinyl seats and new carpets. It is period correct with the addition of a Smiths rev counter. It has its original seat belts and roof liner and the correct boot board with twin tanks. The 130 MPH speedo points to its intentions....
As mentioned this Mini has been restored to a very high standard and has a very solid original shell with the correct vented sills, all new brakes and suspension and it is body coloured underneath and therefore very easy to maintain. The paintwork gleams and it really does belie its 52 year old vintage and could easily sit on display at any show and make its new owner very proud to be the owner of such a revered Classic car.
The Mini is fully serviced, tuned and checked and and has a long MOT. It is also MOT and Tax exempt.
