1931 Sunbeam Lion 500cc
3-Speed Hand Change
Updated changes for the 1931 Lion included the introduction of Webb style single spring girder forks (previously Druid double spring girders) and chrome plated petrol tank, however, the cylinder head and barrel remained as one piece which makes this model quite unique in that it was only available in this guise for one year only.
The machine is extremely original and has been in long-term storage within a large collection of British motorcycles. The overall condition is good with fair cosmetics and brightwork. The engine turns over with excellent compression and the magneto is producing a healthy fat spark at the plug, a quick injection of fuel through the carburettor and the engine fires first kick. All 3 gears select, the clutch disengages/ engage correctly along with the brakes, and the wheels/ rims/ spokes, appear restored and are excellent throughout, however, the bike will require a complete and thorough check-over prior to use. Parts that require obvious attention include, replacement battery, leaky fuel tap, and carburettor washer seals, and possibly the replacement of both tyres/ tubes although both hold pressure.
Complete with the latest V5c, and several old V5 documents, in addition, the original 'Norwich' issued registration mark is fully transferable
