Description
Jaguar XK 150 3. 8 FHD, finished in British racing green with beige leather interior trim.
BACKGROUND
A UK supplied vehicle, first registered in 1959 with just 3 owners and only 53427 miles on the clock. The current owner, a Jaguar collector and member of the XK owners club, has lovingly cared for this XK for the past 11yrs, with the previous 2 owners showing the same affection for the 26yrs each prior. Accompanying paperwork is extensive and includes tax discs, MOT’s, owners club registration, original logbook, service manual and operating, maintenance and service handbook.
The XK was subject to a bare shell restoration in 2005, which included restoring the vehicle to its original factory British racing green finish. During the restoration the project focused on the finished vehicle mirroring that of an XK150 3. 8 S, therefore the original 3. 4 engine was upgraded to that of a period Triple SU 3. 8 S power unit, delivering 265bhp and 0-60mph in 7secs. Notwithstanding the purist’s view, a ready upgraded XK is considered by many to offer increased value and desirability.
MECHANICAL
The XK starts on the button and shows no sign of any engine fatigue, which is a testament to the regular upkeep the vehicle has enjoyed over the years. The current owner reports no concerns around overheating and has used the vehicle for longer touring trips throughout his ownership. This likely due to the XK150 being fitted with a larger radiator with multiblade fan, a vast improvement over earlier models. Other upgrades the XK enjoys include seat belts, electronic ignition and a manual choke which enables smooth start-up. The experience that you feel when you get behind the wheel of an XK, combines vintage luxury with useable performance, which is what makes this vehicle so engaging and endearing. The performance of the XK was nothing short of astounding for its time. With overdrive in 3rd and 4th gears, the XK is ready for any trip.
EXTERIOR
The paintwork is excellent with no evidence of any corrosion or rot as can often be found with many XKs. The shut gaps and doors fit as well as any new car of today. The restoration has been untaken to an incredibly high standard and needs to be seen to be appreciated. Where suitably conditioned storage has been kept a priority, the chassis and suspension components have also aged well, with no concerns raised during recent inspection/ MOT. Currently fitted with Brockley radial tyres, all of which are in good condition.
INTERIOR
The beige leather interior, including door trims, dashboard and roof lining, are all in excellent condition. The number plate the XK wears today “WLX6”, is included in the sale and has accompanied the vehicle throughout its life.
A classic that is fast growing in demand and with a cast-iron pedigree, values are only going one way. Snap up this beautiful example today, sit back and watch history continue to write itself.
