This Ford Escort RS Cosworth Monte Carlo Edition is an extremely rare limited-production rally-derived modern classic performance car, offered with a strong maintenance history.
Under the bonnet sits a 2. 0-litre turbocharged Cosworth YBT inline-four, producing around 227bhp, driving all four wheels via five-speed manual transmission.
The odometer shows 80, 263 Kms (49, 874 miles) from new.
Believed to have been a German-delivered model, this left-hand drive Escort is marked as number 138 of only 200 examples produced worldwide.
It was imported into the UK and first registered with the DVLA in August 2015,
The Escort RS Cosworth Monte Carlo was produced to commemorate the marque’s success in the 1993-1994 Monte Carlo rallies with Francois Delecour at the wheel.
Believed to have been previously restored, this example was originally finished in Mallard Green, but has been repainted in Imperial Blue, over a black cloth-trimmed interior, with patterned inserts on the seats and door cards, featuring Recaro sport seats with embroidered white ‘Motorsport’ lettering.
It rides on an aftermarket set of 18-inch Compomotive alloy wheels with blue ‘Ford Motorsport’ lettering, shod with Vredestein Ultrac Satin tyres.
The factory specification includes headlamp washers, electric windows, an electric sunroof, an aluminium gear knob, a dashboard-mounted battery voltage, oil pressure and boost gauges, air conditioning, and a digital clock.
As well as its non-standard wheels and paintwork, the car has also been modified with the addition of smoked front indicator and side repeater lenses in place of the original orange items, along with pressed metal front and rear number plates.
It will be supplied with its full original German owner’s book pack, all the German registration documents, all UK registration documents, and comprehensive UK maintenance history.
This RS Cosworth’s most recent maintenance was carried out in April 2022 at 79, 630 Kms by Thompa Sport, which consisted of new differential oils, transmission oil, as well as new engine oil and a filter.
Two more services were carried out by Volks Parts of Durham in July 2019, and in June 2018.
Other notable maintenance includes the fitment of four new Bosch 803 injectors, a new turbocharger wastegate actuator, a custom calibrated chip for P8 Weber ECU, four new alloy wheels, brand new belts and pulleys fitted, and a new turbocharger.
