Produced by Carrozzeria Vignale, the historic Lancia Flavia Convertible is a classic example of Turinese elegance en plein air, which in this version was assembled by Carrozzeria Vignale. The official presentation took place in November 1962 at the Turin Motor Show.
Giovanni Michelotti, who designed it, focused on an original front and truncated tail, as well as other aesthetic features of the bodywork such as the redesigned front bumper, specific position lights, chrome door handles and dedicated rear lights.
The car was built on the platform of the Pininfarina coupé, but specially shortened for the Vignale version
At the time of its launch on the Italian market, the Lancia Flavia Convertible was offered at a base price of approximately 2. 3 million Lire. The standard equipment as usual in Lancia was already rich in itself and well finished. While among the most prominent optionals there was the hard top which was particularly useful for the winter season.
In 1963, the Lancia Flavia Convertible Vignale range was expanded and strengthened with the installation of a 1800 cc opposed-4 cylinder carburettor engine which delivered 92 HP of power, thus reaching a top speed of 173 km/ h.
The passenger compartment was also improved for the occasion, with the introduction of the three-spoke aluminum sports steering wheel with wooden rim, already proposed on the sports models Flavia Coupé and Flavia Sport Zagato.
The Lancia Flavia Convertible 1800 went out of production in 1967, after having been produced in only 834 units with 1800 engine and in only 43 units with 1800 injection units.
