1950 Bentley Mk. V 4. 9 litre Special

Chassis no. B154JO

For Sale: £31, 360 Ono
Originally a Mk. VI four-door saloon, this vehicle has been converted to a special by Alex Turner using a Harry Rose body. During this conversion, the engine was moved back and replaced with a B61, 4. 9 litre unit matched to a 2. 92:1 long ratio differential. The bulkhead was reduced by 4” in height, as was the radiator and cowling, to create the current ‘low-line’ design. In 2016 the vehicle was prepared for the tour of the North and South Islands of New Zealand, work included a brake and servo overhaul, uprated front suspension, and a full service of the carburettors and wiring, all carried out by P. Forte, Exeter. Since returning, the car has been in a private collection, where further upgrades have been carried out, namely a replacement radiator in aluminium, built to race specifications, replacement of the fuel pump with a facet high performance example etc. Our vendor tells us that these recent upgrades have improved performance and reliability. Many receipts are supplied, apart from those relating to the radiator and regulator. We are told that the original radiator is available F. O. C. if collected from the vendor. There is also a V5C in the file.

For classic cars over 30 years this equates to 5% Duty on the final value. For cars described as MOT exempt (pre-1983) these vehicles may need their exemption registered with the DVLA.
