Description

Louis Delage was a very ambitious man with a passion for racing and a competitive edge, that led him to produce some of the greatest sports cars of the era. Only Delage and Mercedes-Benz produced cars that dominated in all: Grand Prix racing, Indianapolis 500 and held the World Land Speed Record.

The new Delage ?SIX?, known as type DM was introduced in 1926 and powered by a 3. 180 cc overhead-valve six cylinder. Car was designed for speedy and economical long-distance touring. This roadster by James Young is a rare surviving example of the more powerful (75 as opposed to 62 horsepower) short-wheelbase DMS, delivered to the UK in 1928. It has been rescued in about 1961 by Stan Harding form a scrapyard in the Midlands. Later on this DMS were sold to Tom Bowhill of Cheltenham, well-known Delage restorer. Tom had restored the car for Patrick Delage himself regardless the costs. Today the car is to be found as a older restoration in great running condition with some nice patina. The DMS model is very rare, with just not more than ten examples surviving to these days.
