Introduced in 1996 and produced until 2001, the first version of the Lotus Elise is the rarest on the market because, as well as being the first, it is also the one that was produced for the shortest time, with an estimated total of less than 9, 000 examples.
Several special series were produced on this first Lotus Elise, including a 111 S version from 1999, where Lotus installed a 145 bhp engine bought off the shelf from Rover! This unit is in fact a slight evolution of the 1800. The car had its own headlamp bubbles, its own grille, a shorter gearbox, modified intake and exhaust manifolds, more padded seats, a spoiler, perforated brake discs, new wheels and a special logo on the rear. A total of 1, 489 cars were produced in this version. Of all these versions, only 3 (!!!) were produced!
NYC's/ OXOTO is offering for sale this magnificent example in orange (chrome), with black leather interior (a superb combination of colours), with a total of less than 54, 000 Ml. Delivered new in England in February 2000, only 3 owners have ever owned it. The first, an Englishman, kept the car for 3 years. Its 2nd owner, still English, kept it for 19 years, before selling it in 2022 to an English prestige car professional. It was in 2023 that its 3rd and current owner, a Belgian, bought it. At the time, it had a total value of 52, 137 million litres. The latter is a professional in the world of prestige cars in Belgium, and he really made sure he bought a super example with a crystal-clear and perfectly known history... Which is the case: we have the WHOLE life history of this Lotus. In fact, as well as having all the invoices, we have all the documents that are extremely important when you buy this type of beautiful car... The bodywork looks really good, nothing to complain about apart from a few very fine stone chips on the front, it's really impeccable! Never damaged, no scratches, no dents, it's really a nugget!
The soft top is also in excellent condition!
Note that the rims and fuel filler cap were painted black by the 2nd owner.
As for the interior, it looks really good too. There's absolutely nothing to complain about in terms of the seats, dashboard, door interiors, etc. Given that it's a stripped-down car, it didn't take long to see just how well preserved it is. It's even in incredible condition for a car that's 25 years old!
As for the mechanics, there's nothing to worry about. It's worth pointing out that we have an excellent service record, with ALL servicing carried out at official Lotus dealerships. We have almost one service every year, not forgetting the maintenance booklet and, above all, this big follow-up of invoices. And we can confirm its excellent road holding: braking, acceleration, starting, it's a real pleasure!
What's more, the most recent roadworthiness test dates back to August 2024 (53. 310 Ml) and makes no mention of any remarks about the car.
We also have access to ALL the UK MOT reports (rare) and they all confirm that this Lotus Elise has always been superbly maintained.
In addition to this incredible documentation, we still have the gift given to its first owner, the duplicate keys, the Lotus certificate confirming that only 3 examples of this configuration left the factory like this, the owner's manual, the original parts, the previous British plates, etc...
In terms of options, the car comes in metallic orange chrome and is also fitted with a radio, a removable Momo Corsa steering wheel (making it easier to settle in), Bilstein suspension, etc. A bridge is also available at our premises to show the underside of the vehicle.
