1971 MG B ROADSTER MKII
Just arrived at The Forge is this rock-solid Californian import, restored and converted to RHD; overdrive; current owner six years; lots of history; wonderful condition; a real bobby-dazzler!
Dating from 1976, this super MGB Roadster was imported from sunny California with all duties paid and first UK-registered in November 1999. An undated invoice shows that it was converted to RHD by California Classics of Hull who also fitted a reconditioned engine and overdrive gearbox, a new windscreen, a stainless steel exhaust and gave it a full service, the mileage at this point being 14, 898.
In October 2008, when the mileage was 16, 403, they sold it to a local gent, the invoice showing that this included 12 months MOT, a service, refurbished Rostyle wheels, paintwork rectification and underseal/ waxoil treatment. It also came with a detailed engineer’s report which gave it a clean bill of health in all departments.
A good file of invoices show regular upkeep from 2001 onwards that total £5, 680. 08 with many new parts fitted over the years including chrome bumpers; door handles and other external brightwork; brake and suspension parts; Facet fuel pump; K&N filters; alloy rocker cover; seat foams; carpets; Mountney steering wheel; Pioneer CD/ radio; alloy gear knob; mesh headlamp stone guards; tonneau cover plus much else besides.
Most recently it had a new distributor cap, rotor arm, spark plugs and leads in February 2023 and fresh oil and filter in May 2024.
Many old MOTs show the mileage gradually rising from 2, 752 in 2002 to 29, 185 in July 2017 when it passed with no advisories. MOT-exempt from then onwards, the speedo currently shows 30, 535 miles. it also comes with an owner’s handbook, two parts catalogues and a guide to the Pioneer CD/ radio.
In the last ownership since 2019, it drives as well as it looks, with working overdrive. It has certainly been starting promptly and running very nicely as we have moved it around on site, with good 60psi oil pressure.
As you can see in the photos, this MGB Roadster looks absolutely gorgeous with gleaming black paintwork and a lovely interior. The underside looks equally good thanks to years spent in the California sunshine. A proper bobby-dazzler that will turn heads wherever it goes…
