An excellent example of a Pilot, the first all-British Ford V8.
Finished in the original colour of Ludlow Green – a colour which suits it well - the paintwork is generally good but there is some ageing in places.
The fawn interior is very good overall with excellent headlining and carpets. The rear seat is in wonderful condition but the front squab needs some re-stitching and there are a couple of small tears in the backrest.
The car is very original retaining 6 volt electrics and a mechanical fuel pump. It starts very readily and emits that burble unique to a flat head Ford.
Under the bonnet all is correct and well presented.
Direction indicators have sensibly been fitted.
Underneath the Pilot is in excellent order as is the boot, an area often neglected on Pilots.
The brightwork is also in excellent condition save for one hubcap which could do with re-plating.
This Pilot was first registered on 24 August, 1950 in Pembroke to a Mr W. G. Francis as shown in the original buff log book which accompanies the car. Also present is a detailed service record from 1953 to 1968 carried out by Long Sutton Garage of Taunton, Somerset and an original Instruction Book.
This is a very clean and tidy car and way better than the majority of Pilots.
