Condition:
This particular Mini Cooper S, we understand, left the factory during the final month of Cooper S production, and the registration document indicates that it had four owners between December 1976 and 1987. Its fourth owner was Jeremy Lloyd, the well-known comic actor and scriptwriter of such TV comedy classics as Are You Being Served? and ’Allo ’Allo!, not to mention Captain Beaky.
The engine underwent a historic rebuild by Cranbourne Mini Cooper legend and Downtown Engineering engineer Steve Harris; however, the refurbishment work came to a halt when the owner was posted overseas. The rest of the car subsequently remained somewhat neglected over the years, ultimately proving a perfect candidate for the previous owner to acquire in a cosmetically tatty state and put their own stamp on it. Originally finished in cream, the previous owner chose to have the car resprayed following the rebuild in the far more vibrant Blaze Red.
The paintwork and body have held up reasonably well since the rebuild, although there are some cosmetic imperfections, including dents, scratches, and areas of cracking. The interior is generally a pleasant place to be; however, the driver’s seat does have some rips, and the backrest appears to be a slightly different shade.
The vehicle has been in storage for a few years and, although it appears to start easily, move, and stop, it is being sold as requiring recommissioning before regular use.
As with all of our vehicles, we have not carried out a full mechanical inspection, and the vehicle is therefore being sold strictly in accordance with our Terms and Conditions below.
Please note: we do not have access to ramps so we are unable to provide comments or photographs of the underside of any vehicle — but viewings are always welcome.
We invite any serious potential buyer to contact us to arrange a viewing.
