1950 RILEY RMD LHD
The Riley RMD is a rare, classic British drophead coupe produced between 1949 and 1951.
It is part of the 'RM' series, which enthusiasts often call 'the last of the real Riley's' because they were the final models developed before the brand was fully absorbed into larger corporations like BMC.
They are a significantly rare car given only 502 units were ever manufactured.
Powered by a 2. 5-litre 'Big Four' four-cylinder engine featuring twin camshafts and twin SU carburettors, producing approximately 100 bhp.
It could reach top speeds of roughly 95–100 mph, making it a high-performance touring car for its era.
A traditional two-door convertible based on the RMB saloon chassis, it features an ash-framed body with steel panels and a distinctive three-position folding hood.
The chassis was advanced for its time, it included independent front suspension with torsion bars and rack-and-pinion steering.
This beautifully was stored example was imported from Canada in 2016.
The current vendor augmented the car with the addition of electric power steering, a 5 speed manual gearbox and a stainless steel exhaust.
The odometer is showing 26650 miles (unwarranted)
Only around 150 examples of the marque are thought to survive globally.
YWG 696 has everything going for it being a restored example, the benefit of modern mechanical aides and not withstanding being a left-hand drive, presents beautifully with the classic sweeping lines of a post war British classic.
Estimated at an extraordinarily reasonable £18, 000-£22, 000- this drophead beauty will turn heads wherever she goes...
