Description

At the Geneva Motor Show in March 1965, Lancia unveiled the elegant Fulvia 1. 2 Coupé. With its timeless, graceful design, the Fulvia Coupé is considered Pietro Castagnero's masterpiece. The Fulvia Coupé was based on the sedan's platform, but with a shortened wheelbase of 2, 330 mm. With an enlarged 1, 216 cc engine delivering 59 kW (80 hp) at 6, 000 rpm, an improved chassis, a weight of only 960 kg, and a drag coefficient of 0. 39, the first-production coupé achieved a top speed of 160 km/ h. From the spring of 1967 to the end of 1969, the Fulvia 1. 2 Coupé was also available with unchanged power output, but with a 1, 231 cc engine.

The Fulvia 1. 2 HF coupé entered the market in early 1966. The 1216 cc engine now delivered 65 kW (88 hp), and the weight was reduced to 825 kg through the use of aluminum hoods and Plexiglas windows. This model marked the beginning of the sporting successes of the Fulvia series.

In the spring of 1967, the Lancia Fulvia Coupé 1. 3 was introduced, with an engine displacement of 1298 cc and a power output of 64 kW (87 hp) at 6000 rpm.

The Fulvia 1. 3 HF, produced from the spring of 1967 to the end of 1969, reached a top speed of 174 km/ h with its 74 kW (101 hp) from 1298 cc at 6400 rpm. In the autumn of 1968, the Fulvia 1. 3 S Rallye Coupé was launched, equipped with the vacuum-assisted brake booster and oil cooler from the Fulvia 1. 3 HF. The engine now delivered 70 kW (93 hp) at 6, 200 rpm.

At the end of 1968, Lancia presented the Lancia Fulvia Coupé 1. 6 HF at the Turin Motor Show. The so-called "540" engine, with its characteristic yellow valve covers, now had a displacement of 1, 584 cc. The cylinder angle of the V4 engine had been reduced to just 11°20'. With the enlarged 40 mm Solex carburetors and a compression ratio of 10. 5:1, the engine now delivered 86 kW (114 hp) at 6, 000 rpm – enough for a top speed of 180 km/ h. Almost simultaneously, the factory offered a sporty version, the "Variant 1016". A more aggressive camshaft, 45 mm Solex carburetors, and an increased compression ratio of 11. 3:1 boosted power to 99 kW (132 hp) at 6, 600 rpm and the top speed to 190 km/ h.

Both versions were now equipped with a five-speed gearbox and alloy wheels and weighed 850 kg. Due to the large headlights, the Fulvia 1. 6 HF was nicknamed "Fanalone".

The Fananalone presented here is a 100% original car that has never been entered in serious rallies and remains here in its original condition. It stands here like a new car that actually still needs to be broken in. In the standard colors of dark red with a black vinyl interior in Zagato style. Notable features include the tachometer that goes up to 10, 000 rpm. Also noteworthy are the small triangles between the large headlights and the grille. This must be one of the most beautiful Fananlones to be found on the market. A find that won't come back anytime soon, making it a car for the true Lancia enthusiast of a first-series Fananlone!
