Description

Speedbroker have pleasure to offer this exceptional Jaguar D-Type by Realm Engineering – a beautifully executed “Tribute” to Mike Hawthorn’s 1955 Le Mans-winning car.

What was the D-Type?

The Jaguar D-Type is one of the most iconic sports racing cars ever built. Produced in extremely limited numbers - just 71 cars in total (18 factory race cars and 53 privateer entries) it represents a golden era of British motorsport engineering.

Its legacy was cemented at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, where Jaguar achieved an extraordinary three consecutive victories from 1955 to 1957. This remarkable feat echoed the dominance of the Bentley Boys in the 1920s and wasn’t repeated until Ford’s success over a decade later.

Today, original D-Types are among the most valuable and sought-after collector cars in the world, often commanding many millions when they rarely appear on the market.

Why replicas exist – and how they differ

Due to the rarity and value of original D-Types, high-quality recreations—often referred to as “replicas” or “tribute cars”—have become highly desirable in their own right.

This particular example is far from an ordinary replica. It is one of the renowned cars built by Realm Engineering, designed by Adrian Reynard of IndyCar fame. These cars are widely regarded as among the most accurate and best-engineered recreations available.

Such is their quality that racing legends Stirling Moss and Jack Brabham reportedly praised them as being as good as, if not better than, the originals they drove in period.
