Description

This matching numbers Series II V8 Aston Martin was the subject of a total restoration including sensible upgrades, all of which took place over an eight year period between 2007 and 2015. The previous owner who planned never to sell the car, not only wanted to return it to its former glory but also to introduce various upgrades that would make the car more drivable and reliable. Thus he sought out specialists who had either worked on these cars during the original build or highly skilled craftsmen with the knowledge and experience required to carry out the work to his exacting standards. Over 200 hours were spent on the refurbishment of the chassis alone, the work requiring a purpose made jig and numerous body panels were also replaced during the process. In order that corrosion would never be a problem in the future, a modern Raptorskin treatment was applied to the body and structure of the car. David Eales of Oselli Engineering who previously worked for Aston Martin was commissioned to rebuild the engine and the way in which it runs is a credit to his expertise. It produces a smooth power-band and is tractable in every gear. In addition, every mechanical component including the differential, gearbox, rear axle, brake callipers, etc. were repaired, replaced or upgraded. A new wiring loom was installed, purpose made by "Cablescan",(suppliers to Formula one), which incorporates wiring upgrades to supply LED dashboard lighting, electronic ignition, an uprated alternator, high geared starter motor and heated front seats. Other noteworthy features include Dynamat sound insulation, an aluminium cooling radiator, polyurethane suspension bushes and a handling kit all of which becomes evident when driving this car. It has also been completely re-trimmed using best quality Boyriven hides and Wilton carpeting whilst the dash top is now covered in black Alcantara completely preventing glare from the windscreen. The original GKN alloys have been replaced with BBS cross spoked alloys as used on the later models. The car comes with a detailed history file recording all of the above works. When new the fuel injected Aston Martin V8 was the fastest production car of the period.
