Description
For sale in France: 1976 Ford Ranchero 500 – V8 351ci – Solid base, big Ranchero 500 potential
A 1976 Ranchero 500 fitted with the original Ford 351 cubic-inch (5. 8L) V8, paired with a well-maintained automatic gearbox. French “carte grise” (collector/ collection registration). The vehicle has had a lot of recent work done, with around €4, 000 in invoices: ignition (module, spark plugs, leads), battery, starter + solenoid, refurbishment of the gauges/ instruments (working dials and gauges), brakes (rear wheel cylinders, front/ rear flexible hoses), engine and gearbox oil changes (including filter strainer and gasket), brand-new wheels and tyres in good condition.
Mechanically, the base is sound: the engine is original, the gearbox shifts correctly, and the braking is operational. However, the vehicle hasn’t been driven for about a year, so recommissioning and a full check are to be expected.
Structurally, everything is solid: chassis and body are in good shape, with no perforating corrosion found. The underbody looks consistent with the model.
In terms of appearance: paintwork needs attention (the clearcoat is badly cracked on the bonnet and the tops of the wings), and the engine bay needs refreshing. Clean, solid cargo bed. The interior is generally in good condition, but the door panels are likely to need doing.
An interesting setup with a tonneau/ cargo-bed cover, recent wheels, and a coherent presentation—ideal as a project base or for an enjoyable use after a bit of rework. A likeable model: mechanically simple, with a good foundation for anyone seeking an unusual US-style pickup to finish to their own taste.
