Hand-crafted by Mulliner Park Ward, the Silver Shadow Two-Door Saloon was introduced in 1966. The work of in-house stylist W. G. Allen, the saloon-***-coupe boasted wonderfully sleek lines. Blending speed with refinement in a way that few rivals could match, it was powered by a 6230cc OHV V8 engine allied to automatic transmission. Trimmed with a superlative mix of sumptuous leather hides, rich wood veneers and deep lambswool carpets, the model was every bit as luxurious as it was expensive (an Aston Martin DB6 or Ferrari 365GT 2+2 was relatively cheap by comparison). Despite being in production for five years, just 571 MPW Two-Door Saloons are thought to have been made (369 RHD / 202 LHD).
Finished in the period combination of Coffee Bean Brown with Beige leather upholstery and optional lambswool overmats, chassis CRH 8431 was supplied new via HR Owen of London to a prominent Harley Street Dentist. Having spent a considerable time at its first owner’s Andorran holiday home, the Rolls-Royce returned to the UK in 2022. Sold by his son that same year, the MPW Two-Door changed hands once more before joining the vendor’s collection during January 2023. Entrusted to a marque specialist for a checkover and service ahead of the auction, ‘GGX 658J’ is deemed by the vendor to be in ‘very good overall’ condition and will be driven to the Pavilion Gardens. The odometer reading stands at some 28, 400 miles, a commendably low figure commensurate with the lack of wear to the original, unrestored interior. Summed-up as ‘beautifully presented and unmolested’, this special Rolls-Royce is offered for sale with copy RREC build records, original owner’s wallet / handbook, period Jack Barclay leather keyfob, factory air-conditioning instructions card (from when the car was initially delivered), invoices, notes, historic paperwork and current ‘no advisories’ MOT certificate valid until June 2027.
