Description
Originally supplied by H. W. Motors (K. N. Rudd) and finished in Sierra Blue coachwork with optional heated rear screen, first registered ‘FHC 2’ on the 19th October 1964, just three days prior to collection by its first owner, Mr D. F. Albert of Hastings, Sussex.
The factory build records (copy on file) document regular maintenance by the works at Newport Pagnell until 1969 (with mileage noted at 26, 350 miles on their last service). Mr Albert would continue to use and enjoy the Aston until 1973 when it was offered for sale by Blacklands Garage of Hastings, a local Morris agent.
The DB5 was acquired by the second owner on 15th May 1973, a local Hastings based garage owner Mr E. A. Parkinson who would retain the DB5 for the following forty-five years and a copy of his original purchase invoices remains on file!
The comprehensive history file documents extensive structural and mechanical restoration between 2001-2003 commissioned by Mr Parkinson and includes replacement sills, floor pans, outriggers, trailing arm mounts and in jacking points completed in 2001.
The engine was then fully rebuilt to 4. 2 Litre specification in 2002 by noted engineering specialists Motorman Engineering Ltd, including cylinder head rebuild to unleaded specification and new clutch assembly, with parts supplied by Aston Service Dorset and Aston Engineering. Further improvements during Ted’s ownership included the fitment of solid steering rack mounts and poly bushed anti roll bar kit.
After forty-five years and over 100, 000 enjoyable miles, the day came for Ted to part with his beloved DB5, and so in 2019 it was acquired by its third enthusiast owner who subsequently commissioned a further GBP 90, 000 restoration programme with marque exponents Aston Engineering between 2019-2021.
During that period the car was repainted and further metalwork undertaken where necessary with a full underside coating to the chassis. The engine and gearbox were removed, carburettors and linkages rebuilt, new starter motor and alternator fitted, new HT leads and new engine mountings fitted.
The bulkhead was fitted with dynamat heat proofing, new brake reservoirs, new brake servos and engine bay brake pipes, new engine bay wiring harness, new gearbox seals, re-cored radiator and positive earth Aldon electric ignition and power steering
Additional works included removal and rebuild of the rear axle and differential, fitment of four original Borrani wire wheels and AVON tires, period correct Motorola radio rebuild to accept ipod/ MP3 and heat shielding around transmission and floor areas
The DB5 was most recently serviced by marque exponents R. S. Williams in September 2025 where it also benefitted from new RSW front and rear springs, ride height setup, lower king pin rebuild and various service items, with less than 1500 miles covered since.
This delightful DB5 is offered today in excellent condition throughout and retains a wonderfully preserved and rarely seen original interior. Supplied with comprehensive history file documenting its significant recent expenditure and photo of Desmond Llewelyn aside the car!
With its desirable original specification and long term previous ownership, this DB5 is will appeal to the discerning Aston enthusiast and is ready for its next long term custodian to enjoy
