1 of just 237 Silver Dawns produced
Just 54, 000 miles from new, with documented service history
Purchased by the previous owner in 2022 from Hanwells for £33, 000 and only three former keepers
Benefitting from over £10, 000 of expenditure with specialists Hanwells and Gordon Dale in 2024 and 2025
Débuting in America during 1994, but not available to other markets including Britain until the following year, the ‘New’ Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn was among the final variants to be spun from the accomplished but long-serving Silver Spirit platform. A late hurrah before BMW assumed control, the newcomer was based around the Crewe concern’s familiar four-door monocoque bodyshell equipped with all-round independent suspension, adaptive ride control, power steering and ABS four-wheel disc brakes. Benefiting from Bosch Motronic fuel injection and digital ignition, its smooth 6, 750cc OHV V8 engine was allied to a four-speed automatic transmission. Available with a bewildering array of options not to mention Rolls-Royce’s bespoke ‘tailoring’ service, the ‘New’ Silver Dawn remained in production until 1998. Expensive yet exclusive, as befits the ‘World’s Best Motor Car,’ just 237 are thought to have been made.
Supplied new by H. R. Owen in the regal colour of Wildberry, this Silver Dawn is pleasingly original and well preserved, having covered a warranted 54, 000 miles from new across just four registered keepers. The first owner was J. & R. Naylors of Wakefield, which retained it until 2015. Its second owner enjoyed it until 2022, and it has been in single-family ownership since, with the present owner’s father having bought it from well-respected Rolls-Royce specialist Hanwells, for some £33, 000.
The outstanding service record with 23 stamps testifies to diligent maintenance from all the Dawn’s owners. The first two services in 1997 and 1998 were issued by Rolls-Royce Leeds, and the following three up to 2002 were by Rolls-Royce Belfast (Charles Hurst Ltd.). Later services were performed by Bentley specialists Michael Powles Ltd. and Broughtons of Cheltenham, MDL Specialist Cars, and Porsche specialist Ramus Porscha. Since 2012, servicing has been exclusively undertaken by Hanwells, with the most recent service completed in 2024 at 52, 640 miles.
The Dawn has received much maintenance from several marque specialists. In 2024, £6, 700 was spent with Gordon Dale on drive belts, rear brake discs and pads, front drop links, distribution valves and pipes, some attention to the parking brake, and much more. The same year, Hanwells fitted a renewed engine control module for £2, 000. In November, 2025, Gordon Dale rewired the ignition and fitted a new alternator and battery at a cost of £2, 400. This excellent and show-worthy car was seen to run and drive very well for our photoshoot and is supplied with the toolkit, jack and warning triangle, and paperwork including the book pack, MOTs, invoices and the V5C.
