Description
Last on the road in 2008, I rescued this Renault 30 V6 from a Cumbrian barn, and have begun a restoration. This is believed to be one of only two series one (IE older dash and interior) TS examples left in the UK! I also have a Renault 20 project, so I have decided to move this car on to somebody who will appreciate it and give it the home it deserves.
This piece of pre oil crisis 14mpg nostalgia only has 45k miles on her, the engine starts first time! The automatic gear box is working well, there are occasions it doesn't engage first, but has always been like this without causing a problem according to the previous owner. It has been driven round the block a good few times, and the V6 has enough torque to set off in 2nd even up hill. The brakes are also registering a decent effort, good enough to stop the car, but could do with stripping and reassembling due to the length of time stood.
If it looks a tad scruffy on the photos, then please expect it to look worse in the flesh. It IS scruffy, and the price reflects this. Both rear doors are rusty (I will be able to supply replacement doors by separate negotiation), the roof had laquer peel and surface rust (I have Kurust treated and spray painted it), the front lip of the bonnet has had the same treatment, as indeed has the tailgate. I have also replaced the passenger side front wing (colour mismatch), and the rear valance has rusted a lot, although this shouldn't be an MOT issue. The good news is that underlying all this panel grot, the car is structurally really solid and strong!
To sum up, this is a project I would say 80% of the way to an MOT. With a good tidy up, this could easily make £4-5k. I have decided to let her go at a price which realistically reflects condition.
