Description
My nice original 1986 Landrover 90 County V8 is in very good condition with Slate Grey bodywork, limestone roof & wheels plus blue county stripes. I’ve owned & enjoyed this lovely car for the last 5 years, carrying out or having work done as & when required to keep her in good reliable running condition. No heavy off road use, mainly runs up into the Peaks & the occasional commute to work.
The chassis is original with some welded repairs carried out to a high standard over the years plus a recent new rear cross member & new YRM galvanised sills. The bulkhead is perfect as are the inner wheel arches, seat box & body panels. The front doors are the correct lift up handles type & are in good condition with recent door seals. The rear door is a recent replacement of the correct specification & fitted with a galvanised spare wheel mount plus stainless fasteners & with all the original fittings, door card, rear wiper / washer etc refurbished & refitted. New rear fold up step fitted to aid getting in the back.
The Hound’s-tooth checked brown interior is complete with 4 individual folding seats (all with inertia reel lap belts) in the back plus a matching central cubby-box between the front 2 seats. I also have the centre middle front seat & belts so the car could easily be converted back to the full 7 seat configuration if desired. Rubber mats front & back (removed in the pictures to show the condition of the floors & bulkhead) & I still have the original seat box brown carpet if required (but it is a rather worn). The correct County headlining is in good condition along with all the other County specific trip items.
New Toyo Open Country 205 section tyres fitted & balanced to the re-powder coated original Rostyle wheels in October last year & fitted with locking wheel nuts.
The suspension was rebuilt in 2015 with standard spec’ springs, new bushes & galvanised spring mounts plus Monroe Gas dampers.
The V8 runs beautifully on the rebuilt carburettors, having been professionally set-up & tuned by Alan Smith Garages in Derby. Radiator & hoses are new & the standard exhaust is nice & quiet with the V8 burble it’s supposed to have. Last service was in late 2016 (800 miles ago) with Motul 20W/ 50 engine oil, NGK spark plugs, new distributor cap, rotor arm & leads, fresh axle, transfer & gearbox oils plus new antifreeze & brake fluid. High & low ratios select as they are supposed to as does the diff lock.
The Landrover jack, tools & wheel brace are in place in their original bag on the seat back bulkhead & I have 2 sets of keys (ignition doors & fuel filler cap).
Extensive history file covering her 100, 700 miles with old MOT’s & receipts dating back to 1998 plus owner’s manual, Haynes manual & copy of the original build / spec’ sheet listing all the factory fitted options.
Only modifications are the addition of protective chequered panels on the top of the front wings plus heated elements to the original seats & a JVC CD radio & 4x Focal / Infinity speakers which would be easily removable without leaving a trace if required.
All the electrics work as they should (even the 2 speed fan / blower) & the headlights are high output halogen.
MOT runs to mid’ January 2018 & located near Ashbourne in Derbyshire.
