2000 VOLVO V70 R P80 5 DR Wagon B5244T2 AWD AW55-5X ME7
Super rare, highly collectible, modern classic, set to appreciate.
This is the phase 3 classic V70 R AWD model that was only built for 1 year in late 1999 and early 2000, clearly identifiable by its laser blue paint, twin exhausts and B5244T2 engine code, featuring the blue-top engine and gearbox from the 2nd generation V70 R the B5244T2 2. 4L 5 cyl, giving a genuine 261hp through the (then new) Aisin AW55-51SN 5-speed gearbox. All held together by an (then new) ME7 Motronic engine management system.
The B5244T2 output is 265 PS (195 kW; 261 hp) @ 5700 rpm with 350 N·m (258 lb·ft) @ 2400 rpm. 0-60mph is delivered sub 6 seconds. Pre-2000 models produced a lower output of 250bhp from a 2. 3L engine.
These engines gave 300 BHP as standard in the phase 2 V70 R AWD's and it is very simple to re-map the ECU to reach this power output in this car, a kit can be acquired from BSR Tuning if so desired. However, this car remains a virgin!, an unmolested example
The 850/ V70 R P80 platform re-defined the family estate car in the 1990's. The V70 All Wheel Drive (AWD) gives you the grip, power and control you need to conquer ice, snow or rain. The car literally reads the road. A viscous coupling permanently transfers the drive to all four wheels. In normal driving on a straight road, most engine power goes to the front wheels. When accelerating, cornering or on a slippery surface, power is progressively distributed to the rear axle. Front wheel-spin is controlled by Volvo's Traction Control System, TRACS. A limited slip differential acts on the rear wheels. The result is that power is always delivered to the wheels with the most grip.
This rust-free example was first registered in Japan in December 1999, then imported to the UK by me in August 2016, where it has sat in dry-storage since, covering only circa 2000 km since its arrival (including delivery mileage from Humberside to West Sussex. This car has never seen road salt. Presented in Laser Blue metallic paint, with Alcantara suede/ black leather interior, with black walnut dash inserts. In my opinion the best colour combination available.
