The 1974 model year was the last year that the standard 911 delivered to the U. S. was a world car. It did not receive the larger impact bumpers or smog equipment (air pump/ thermal reactors) found on the following model year cars. This particular coupe was one of the very first “G-body” Porsche 911s delivered to the U. S as well as being specifically ordered for California.
This example was built in July of 1973. It was delivered new on December 23rd, 1973 by a local Southern California Porsche dealer to Mr. Scott Allen of Oxnard, California. It was special ordered with the following factory options:
Special order Emerald Green metallic paint
California equipment
Vent windows
Stabilizer bars (front and rear)
Manual antenna – left
Front loudspeaker & noise suppression
Light metal wheels pressurized (6x15 – ATS)
Rectangular white fog lights/ halogen
Tinted glass all around
Intermittent wipers
Also included on the car are the rear window defroster and leather wrapped sport steering wheel.
In 1985, Mr. Allen sold the car to Mr. & Mrs. Gomez of Oxnard, California. They kept the car in their family for 25-years before selling it to the current owner on June 3rd, 2010. Upon purchasing this 911, the current owner began going through the entire car. Mr. Gomez had repainted the car sometime in his ownership to a different metallic shade (see pics). However, the inside panels were still left in their original color. Furthermore, the car had been sitting for 15-years. A full repaint and mechanical rebuild were all in order. Mr. Gomez knew the original owner and believes the miles to be original with the exception of the odometer breaking sometime before going into storage.
The goal of the current owner was to bring the car back to its stock original condition, make it a nice driver, and display it at the Rennsport Reunion IV timeline display in 2011. Highlights of the work done include:
Gauges restored by North Hollywood Speedo (preserving their original ’73 style)
Body stripped to bare metal and media blasted
Rust repair performed with proper cutting out of metal and welding in new pieces
New front suspension pan
Refinish underside
Body completely primered, sealed, and repainted factory original color

Then, in May of 2013, the car was displayed at the prestigious Greystone Concours in Beverly Hills, California. Shortly after this event. The owner was rear-ended while sitting in traffic. Fortunately, he had Hagerty insurance, which allowed him to use his choice of shops (Axiom…the shop that did the body work initially) to repair it.
We just had our local shop look over the car and they noted that it appeared that the car had gone through a significant restoration. Some small items that were addressed included:
Repaired wiring for wipers and interior lights
Flush brakes
Check fuel system
Chassis inspection
New OEM size Vredestein tires (185/ 70-15) with new aluminum lug nuts
This mid-year 911 is in very nice condition and I would classify as a high-level driver/ PCA street wash and shine class. The paint is fresh and looks great with minimal signs of use. The glass is all original and in good condition. The chrome trim is original and has been polished. There is some expected minor wear signs on the glass trim. The door handles, rocker trim, and lights/ lenses have all been replaced and look fresh. Both outside mirrors are new. The interior looks equally nice. The seats have no rips, tears, or cracks. The carpet, headliner, and door panels all are new. The original dash has also been recovered and has no cracks or warping. All the gauges work properly including the clock. The interior and exterior lights all work. The non-working aftermarket radio was removed and a delete plate was installed.
This 911 drives really nice. It starts easily on the first try. The power feels surprisingly strong with great low end torque/ pull. The steering is light and direct. It tracks nicely. The upgraded brakes are welcome addition as it has decent stopping power compared to the stock setup. This example would be ideal for vintage touring events and your local weekend cruising/ showing.
California registration is current and paid through January of 2018.
This Porsche comes with extra keys, extensive records/ receipts of recent work, Porsche COA, original owner’s manual, car cover, and space saver spare.
