The Atelier des 1000 is pleased to present for sale a centerpiece of British automotive history: a sublime 1953 Jaguar XK120 SE OTS in a breathtaking configuration with its very rare Pastel Green paintwork paired with a brown leather interior.
Icon of style and performance, the XK120 is a legend: the first series Jaguar to wear the famed XK engine, it was also, at its launch, the fastest production car in the world.
The SE (Special Equipment) version shown here benefits from originally enhanced mechanical specifications, making it even more desirable to driving and collecting enthusiasts.
Owned by its current proprietor for over 10 years, a passionate devotee of classic vehicles, he today honours us by entrusting it to us for sale.
This XK120 SE underwent a full, concours-level restoration in 2015, including notably:
- Bodywork / repainting
- Hood / hood cover
- Engine and cylinder head rebuilt
- Custom tonneau cover and side panels
- Conversion to 5-speed manual (Moss gearbox retained)
- Stainless steel exhaust system
- Restored instrumentation
- New electrical wiring
Behind the wheel, one immediately recognises that its legend is well deserved. Beyond its striking beauty, which passers-by will surely notice, it is a pure pleasure to drive.
Mechanically, it is in excellent condition. The inline six spins with suppleness, revs freely and delivers a glorious sound, thanks in particular to the stainless exhaust system that does justice to the XK engine.
The five-speed manual is smooth, with precise engagement, offering greater long-distance comfort than the original Moss box.
The clutch, for its part, works very well, showing no signs of wear.
The running gear performs wonderfully, with all the front suspension bushings, ball joints and steering components replaced new for sale, giving it a very pleasant road feel.
The wire wheels are in very good condition and shod with Michelin tyres in good order.
Aesthetically, this XK120 immediately catches the eye with the purity of its lines and the elegance of its configuration. Its paintwork, full of charm, is in excellent condition, with a bright shine and sparkling chrome.
The chassis is sound, the underbody clean and free from corrosion.
The dark brown leather interior is in very good condition, showing a certain patina to which we are particularly attached. The whole offers a warm, luxurious atmosphere true to the spirit of Jaguar roadsters of the 1950s.
The car is supplied with a new black hood.
Given the quality of the restoration, the rarity of the model and the beauty of its configuration, we are asking €94, 990. Trade-ins and exchanges considered.
