L'Atelier des 1000 is pleased to offer for sale a masterpiece of British motoring history, a sublime 1953 Jaguar XK120 SE OTS, in a magnificent configuration with its very rare Pastel Green colour combined with a brown leather interior.
An icon of style and performance, the XK120 is a car of legend: the first production Jaguar to carry the famous XK engine, it was also, at its launch, the fastest production car in the world. The SE (Special Equipment) version presented here benefits from improved original mechanical specifications, making it even more desirable to driving enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Owned by its current owner for over 10 years, this fervent collector has done us the honour of entrusting it to us for sale.
This XK120 SE underwent a complete restoration in 2015, including: - Bodywork/ paint restoration - Soft top/ cover - Engine and cylinder head rebuild - Custom tonneau cover and side panels - Upgraded to BVM5 (Moss gearbox retained) - Stainless steel exhaust system - Restored instrumentation - New wiring harness Behind the wheel of this XK, you immediately realise that its legend is well-founded. Beyond its striking beauty, which passers-by will not fail to notice, it is a pure pleasure to drive. Mechanically, it is in excellent condition. The in-line six turns smoothly, revs up with ease and delivers a magnificent sound, thanks in particular to its stainless steel exhaust system, which is a credit to the XK engine. The 5-speed manual gearbox is smooth, with precise locking, and provides better driving comfort on long journeys than the original Moss gearbox. The clutch, meanwhile, works very well, without showing any signs of wear.
The running gear behaves marvellously, and all the front suspension blocks, suspension ball joints and steering have been refurbished for the sale, helping to give it a very pleasant ride on the road. The chrome-plated wire wheels are in very good condition and fitted with Michelin tyres that are also in good condition. Aesthetically, this XK120 immediately catches the eye with its pure lines and elegant configuration.
The charming paintwork is in excellent condition. The chassis is sound, the underpinnings clean and free from corrosion. The dark brown leather interior is in very good condition. It has a certain patina to which we are particularly sensitive. The overall impression is one of warmth and luxury, in keeping with the spirit of Jaguar roadsters of the 1950s. The car is supplied with a new black soft top. In view of the quality of the restoration, the rarity of the model and the beauty of its configuration, we are asking €100, 000.
