L’Atelier des 1000 is pleased to offer for sale a cornerstone piece in the history of British motoring: a sublime 1953 Jaguar XK120 SE OTS, in a superb configuration with its very rare Pastel Green coachwork paired with a brown leather interior.
An icon of style and performance, the XK120 is a legendary car: the first series Jaguar to bear the renowned XK engine, it was also, at launch, the fastest production car in the world.
The SE (Special Equipment) version shown here benefits from original improved mechanical specifications, making it even more desirable to driving and collection enthusiasts.
Owned by its current owner for over 10 years, a passionate collector of classic vehicles, we have the honour today to entrust it to us for sale.
This XK120 SE underwent a complete restoration to the highest standards in 2015, including in particular:
- Bodywork / paint restoration
- Hood / hood cover
- Engine overhaul and cylinder head
- Bespoke tonneau cover and side panels
- Conversion to 5-speed manual (Moss gearbox preserved)
- Stainless steel exhaust system
- Restored instrumentation
- New wiring loom
Behind the wheel, one immediately understands that its legend is well earned. Beyond its striking beauty, which passers-by will surely notice, it is a pure pleasure to drive.
Mechanically, it is in excellent condition. The inline six hauls smoothly, revs with ease and delivers a superb sound, thanks in particular to the stainless exhaust system that does honour to the XK engine.
The 5-speed manual gearbox is smooth, with precise engagement, and offers greater long-distance comfort than the original Moss box.
The clutch, for its part, works very well, showing no signs of wear.
The running gear behaves admirably; all front suspension bushings, steering and suspension ball joints have been renewed for sale, contributing to a very pleasant on-road feel.
The chrome wire wheels are in very good condition and shod with Michelin tyres in good order.
Esthetically, this XK120 immediately draws the eye with the purity of its lines and the elegance of its configuration. Its paintwork, full of charm, is in excellent condition, with a bright sheen complemented by gleaming chrome.
The chassis is sound, underbody panels clean and free from corrosion.
The dark brown leather interior is in very good condition, showing a certain patina to which we are particularly sensitive. The whole offers a warm and luxurious ambience, faithful to the spirit of the Jaguar roadsters of the 1950s.
The car comes with a new black hood.
Given the quality of the restoration, the rarity of the model and the beauty of its specification, we are asking €94, 990. Trade-in and exchange considered.
