Description
1964 VW Split T1 pickup, untouched and full of character!
For sale: a unique and characterful 1964 Volkswagen T1 pickup – a genuine piece of history on wheels with an exceptional backstory.
This T1 was sold new in 1964 in Antioch to the Volkswagen dealer J. C. Dunn Motors. A notable detail: the original invoice is still present, along with various period documents and invoices. Even the original dealer’s number-plate surround has been kept – a rare touch of authenticity.
The first owner, Mr Hurkman, ordered this vehicle new with a single optional extra: an additional loading hatch under the platform – an option that cost just $29. 95 at the time. This T1 served faithfully for many years before falling into obscurity in 1996.
In 2005, we rediscovered the vehicle during one of our trips to California, in Bakersfield. Once it arrived in the Netherlands, it quickly found a new enthusiast. For this owner, we slightly lowered the vehicle: offset front spindles and one notch lower at the rear on the leaf-spring suspension. It was also technically serviced and equipped with Flat4 wheels and Safari windows.
Today, 21 years later, this iconic model is back with Kieft & Klok, ready to find a new owner who will take care of it for the next twenty years.
Are you after a patinated, authentic pickup where every dent tells a story? Look no further. An example like this has become extremely rare.
Guaranteed to be a hit and a joy to drive! Delivery to France possible. Dutch papers (EU).
