Description
Rare Type E Series 1 2+2 from June 1966, delivered new in France by Royal Elysées Paris, French registration in force since first registration. Opalescent Blue. 44, 000 km on the odometer, 6th owner, maintained at Provost Automobiles in Le Mans (Jaguar specialist) since 2010.
Mécanique
Engine 4. 2L XK six-cylinder with three SU carburetters, matching numbers confirmed. 4-speed Jaguar synchronous gearbox. Starts readily from cold, no smoke, oil pressure steady, no overheating, no notable leaks. Clutch, brakes and suspension in good working order. Stainless steel exhaust.
Used regularly on short trips, it heads out confidently for a club run or a summer leg. One caveat: the tachometer (original Smiths) can be quirky at times, a classic instrumentation issue on this series, nothing mechanical.
Carrosserie et peinture
Fully restored in 1997-1998 by the previous owner, then €11, 000 of additional work in 2010 at Provost (reliability work: engine, cooling, braking, suspension, ...). No corrosion on this Type E, used only in dry weather and garaged.
Opalescent Blue paint in generally good condition but not concours: a few light chips in the usual areas. No major repaint required, but it would not pass an elegance concours jury without touch-ups.
Intérieur
Trimmed in vinyl during a prior refurbishment (the original leather has not been preserved). Comfortable, clean, presentable for regular use, but not concours condition.
Spécification S1 pure
Châssis 1E75537 (prefix 1E75 = 2+2 LHD export Europe), 4. 2L engine with three carburetters, half-hooded headlights under glass, original toggle switches. The 2+2 S1 Pure was produced for only 16 months (March 1966 – late 1967).
