The Appeal
In the 50s and 60s, simple, uncomplicated two seaters sports cars built here did rather well over there. This 1967 B came at the tail end of that trend, reportedly despatch to California when new before being acquired by a member of Los Angeles Police Department. It returned to the UK in 1999 whereupon it was converted to RHD by a MG specialist and then registered with the current keeper two years later.
The large history file shows regular work and maintenance. The engine has been reconditioned as have the gearbox and overdrive unit. The car is said to run well and is in good condition thanks to the current keeper’s long term regime of dry storage and sparing use. We’re told that it runs sweetly and has always been reliable. But then, of course, it is a MGB.
The vendor says:
“This is a highly original & authentic example of a classic M G B of the most desirable period, presenting with extremely low mileage , having throughout its present ownership been kept in a dry, secure garage & meticulously serviced & maintained
“Engine runs sweetly: car has always proved reliable & a pleasure to drive. A very genuine, authentic classic roadster.
“A rust-free California import, owned & cherished by present owner for 28 years, but in recent times all too little used. Lovingly maintained, meticulously serviced & kept in dry, heated garage. Not concours, but a ready candidate for raising to that status.”
