We are delighted to present for sale this very original, smart Series 2 Land Rover®, in popular Marine Blue colour configuration. This is a very high specification vehicle that we have sold previously in 2016.
Externally, there are lots of nice period features – the vintage numberplates with the valuable dateless registration of three letters, three numbers, the recent canvas, wing-mounted mirrors, bonnet mounted spare, recent front bumper, original 650 tyres and rear grabhandles. The only notable addition is that of a towbar and electrics, useful to allow towing. All of this combines to make a vehicle that looks very standard and period – just what we like to see. The bodywork is of a good standard, and it is evident that it has been treated to a professional respray in times past.
The interior houses three front standard seats (all with belts), with deluxe matting to the footwells. The original round-heater is still in situe with the front demist pipes – these were a very expensive option at the time and are very handy in the winter for keeping the cabin warm and keeping the windscreen clear. The front also shows the differences between a Series 2 and a 2a – the twist ‘Shalack’ vents rather than the twist and lift type of later models, and the horn fitted to the panel to the right of the driver – it is great these features still exist, setting it apart from later models. A stereo and speakers has been discreetly fitted into the cabin – this also has bluetooth (so you can play your favourite music) and telephone connectivity – the eagle eyed amongst you will notice the microphone attached to the panel where the horn is! There is even a 12v socket – very handy for charging phones and Sat Nav Systems. The rear houses twin bench seats to allow seven seated, and all four seats have belts too. There is a load mat fitted to the rear floor, with the tailgate opening sideways to allow easier access for passengers. All of this makes the cabin a truly wonderful place to sit…. with all the creature comforts one expects, whilst keeping original and in keeping of the spirit of the model.
Out on the road, this vehicle gives a pleasing period driving experience, and stops and goes just as it should. It is a joy to drive, and turns heads wherever it goes.
In summary then, if you want an original (and rare!) Series 2, rather than a 2a then this could be for you. With period looks, MOT and tax exemption and classic insurance it should prove cheap to run, whilst being a solid investment in the future – and it has enough seats to take the whole family on whatever adventure you end up on!
