Here we have for sale an early Series 3 Land Rover®, registered in 1971, the first year of production.
Externally, this Series is exactly what we want to see – there are lots of period features such as the bonnet mounted spare, vintage plates, rear grabhandles and rear mudflaps. There are some modern upgrades to make things easier – such as a towball to allow towing and a pair of defender-style door mirrors for additional visibility. The bodywork is a historic finish & what we would expect to see at this price point, and as the photos show, we think it suits well.
The interior is largely standard, with three front standard seats, with deluxe matting to the footwells. The front doors benefit from deluxe door cards, giving a premium feel and a little extra soundproofing too. The rear is unfitted, except for a rear load mat – for £295 bench seats could be added to bring seating to seven including the driver.
Out on the road, the 650 tyres (correct size for the period) give good acceleration and the petrol engine is an eager unit, making for a strong period driving experience. Free Wheeling Hubs are fitted to aid economy and reduce wear to the front axle components.
