JAGUAR XK140 REPLICA
Award winning, engineer built, fantastic example of this rare recreation. At approx a fraction of the price of a real model with genuine Jaguar mechanicals but with a quality fibreglass body, without the usual rust issues. What could be better? 99% of people believe its real.
What is it?
The kit was supplied by Autotune and called Aristocat. this company has been producing limited numbers of these bodies/ chassis for 35 years. That doesn’t happen unless they are quality. The engine gearbox, rear axle, suspension and steering are from a later model 4. 2 XJ6. The best ‘donor’ car was selected for this project with low mileage. This particular one is very special. Many of the ones on the road are still registered as the donor car XJ6 (which means their logbooks will be withdrawn if they go through an ANPR camera) but this one passed the very strict (and expensive, £450) IVA test in 2015. NOT the SVA test from years ago which is much less strict. It is registered correctly as an Aristocat Sport. The last owner was the technical guru for the Chesil owners club and I was a classic car builder/ restorer for 37 years. Each owner has refined the beast to get to this standard.
The car was assembled completely from new and reconditioned parts. It has only completed 3000 miles since then. It could be said its better in many ways than the real thing! It's certainly not going to rot. The engine has a larger capacity and more reliable than the original would have been, but visually its an identical straight six-cylinder.
In September 2016 the previous owner drove the car to Chantilly, France to the race circuit/ car & Richard Mille sponsored show and it had a class win, the rosette goes with the car. It's not been to any other shows yet, so there is plenty of glory and adoration to come for the new owner.
